Nikki Damen achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004 at University College Utrecht, majoring in international law, human rights and international politics. In her final year she spent a semester at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Nikki then continued her studies of Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam. In 2008 she completed her Master’s degree in Private-Law Legal Practice. During her Master’s programme, Nikki did a legal apprenticeship at the Court of Appeal of Amsterdam and within the legal practice, and she worked as a legal secretary at a law firm specialized in family law.
Nikki has been working as a lawyer since March 2009. At first she was an associate at Höcker Advocaten in Amsterdam at the corporate-law and insolvency-law practice group. She primarily acted as a legal counsel and litigator in the area of contract law and company law. She also acted as trustee in bankruptcy.
After seven years at Höcker Advocaten, Nikki felt the time was right to practice law from a fresh perspective. In January 2016 she joined Knoops’ advocaten, at which law firm she has been providing legal advice on criminal law. Since March 2017 she has been associated with Knoops’ advocaten within the scope of collaboration.
Nikki has a special interest in disciplinary law concerning lawyers. Since 2013, she has been Deputy Registrar of the Disciplinary Council in the court district of Amsterdam.
